BSA Round 3 – Ferring

27 May

We just finished up here at my local spot for the 3rd round of the British Slalom Association tour this weekend. It was my 2nd ever windsurfing competition after winning the blast event in the event prior at Weymouth.

I jumped up to the Am men this weekend and having not sailed a slalom course before or my new North equipment I was a little nervous.

Conditions were good for saturday, perfect for big kit and super sunny. I was out on my 7.3 North S-Type and 112 RRD X-fire – I missed my first race but it enabled me to sail the course pressure free for the first time and get to grips with it.

That put me in the loosers final but I managed to get 2nd in that race which I’m stoked with. – Heat 8, the finals didn’t get run which is a shame but the wind completely died after my last race.

Sunday was a perfect summers day but windless so that was it for round 3.

Looking forward to the next comp, I have a lot to learn but I’m really happy with what I achieved on the weekend and I’m looking forward to stepping my sailing up.

Massive thankyou to my sponsors for also supporting my Windsurfing. RRD-ION-NORTH & Baker Academy. Additional thanks to Nik Baker/K-66.

Session at the old Local

17 May

I squeezed in an afternoon session at my old local spot on the weekend, it meant I was able to test my RRD Style V2 test board and I’m super happy with the new outline, sizes and features.!

It’s been a while and I’ve spent a fair bit of time out Windsurfing for the up coming 2nd round of the UK Slalom events.

It was so good to get out and do some freestyle.

Massive thanks to Piers Fearick for the images!

Next Kitesurfing Freestyle event on the 1st June, Can’t wait.

More info on the Style V2 to come.

My first Windsurfing competition.

30 Apr

I’ve just returned home from my first Windsurfing event, BSA Round 2 in Weymouth. I went along mainly to support my sponsors and team mates. Ant Baker, 011 BSA Slalom champion taught me to Windsurf back in september last year and I’ve have a handful of sessions before I was training for my up coming Kitesurfing freestyle comps in St.Lucia, while away I managed to get out a fair amount so I entered the Master Blasters over the weekend.

We did 20 races over Saturday and it was pretty marginal conditions, I managed to win every race so I’m pretty stoked.

I’m going to get out there and take this more seriously from now on and continue to compete on the BSA Tour.

Thanks to my Sponsors for there support, RRD,ION & Baker Acad.

BKSA Round 1 – Clacton Event Report

9 Apr

BKSA Freestyle & Race Event – Round 1 – Clacton On Sea, Essex. 6th April > 8th April.

I’ve just returned home from the first UK event of the year in Essex. The forecast had always looked a bit shocking but race and Youth devisions were completed over the weekend. It was a poor turn out with the Pro Men and Ladies with a lot of the usual top guys still away. I returned back from St.Lucia last week so I was able to attend, with there only being 4 events this year too, if one event were to have no wind, there is no room for a discard so those points are important.

We had the whole RRD UK Team at the event so we had all the new product, kites, boards, sails and SUP’s out so we had some other things to do during the weekend.

Bit frustrating but thats how competition goes.

Next Event on the 22nd April, Watergate Bay in Cornwall for Racing and Wave Jam, I’m going to attend for the Wave Jam. Next Freestyle event in May so I’ll be fighting for that UK tittle.

Check out some of the pics, thanks to Dave White for the images.

St.Lucia update

27 Feb

I’m now down to my final month training in St.Lucia with Coconut bay resort and 2Elements. So far has been amazing and I’m really happy with my progression. I’ll be putting up a Resort tour video next week to show you guys what its like out here & also my new update video with my latest moves.

We have had solid wind since I’ve been here and we now have a perfect week of strong 25knot wind – perfect for windsurfing and small kites. Forsure one of the best places I’ve been to. Not sure how I hear about this place so late!

Stay tuned and here are some new images from Jay haysey at GLOBAL SHOTS!
